Homemade fun dough

A DIY dough you can make with the kids in less than 10 minutes


 What you will need:

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons oil (olive, vegetable what ever is on hand)

1/2 cup salt

2 tablespoons cream of tartar

1.5 cups boiling water

food colouring


Glitter (for some sparkle)

2 drops of glycerin  (for some shine)

Kool-aid packet (adds a nice scent)



Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil in a large mixing bowl

Pour in the boiling water (add optional Kool-aid to water first)

Stir until it becomes a dough

Add the glycerine (optional)

Let it cool and knead

If sticky add flour a teaspoon at a time and knead until consistent

Choose which colours you would like and divide the dough into equal parts

Add a 6 drops of food colouring to each ball of dough. Use a spoon at first to fold it in, than use your hands.

Knead the dough until colour is consistent throughout

Knead in sparkles  (optional )


*do not eat and keep away from pets who may eat it –  very high sodium levels

 You can store this play dough in an air tight container for up to 6 months
